Brand new to camping, dumb question
I've done some searching, but I can't seem to find what I need. We just bought a 32BHDS and I noticed that the radio display stays on. Won't this kill the battery eventually? I've flipped all the breakers to off, and it stayed on. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks!

Isn't there a power button on it?

No, you're not missing anything, it runs off the 12V battery. That and the CO detector always stay on. I have heard that some on this site Cut the power wire to the radio and put in a switch. Been contemplating that idea myself.

It is just a small drain on the battery, but yes, over time it could kill the battery. You may have a battery on/off switch located next to your battery. I know our unit has this and if it is going to be unplugged for an extended period of time, I shut the battery drain off. I put in a 30 amp outlet out in my back yard so we can keep our unit plugged in all the time. Even use it sometimes on the weekend if we have an overflow of company!

Many TT have a battery disconnect switch installedthat kills all power out from the battery back to the Power distribution center. Not to hard to install one your self

If you look at ours with all the lights out in the dark, you can see it still has a blue light on so you can see the display. Not much of a drain but it is there. Maybe yours is different.

Yea, I find it annoying... especially in a radio that is SPECIFICALLY meant for rv's that will spend a lot of time not in use. Seems like a poor design.
I just keep my trailer plugged in to a 15amp circuit when I am not camping. It keeps the battery charged between trips.

I'd love to be able to do this. My lot doesn't really have the amenities for it.

The idea behind it is to maintain the clock and station presets you may have programmed.
I do find it strange that with today's technology they are not using non-volatile memory in these things. Then power COULD be removed with no loss of presets.

Just for your future reference the breakers only affect the 120V shore power. All 12V circuits are protect by fuses.

I get that... but is there a need to have such bright lights displayed all the time? In the middle of the night there is enough light to illuminate my entire main room from the clock and associated blue lighting.
The radio in my car maintains the time, but nothing is illuminated until I turn the car on.

The radio staying on all the time is most annoying when you are sleeping. We finally installed a switch in between the audio deck and power coming from the battery.
