Broken Glass Shelf In Norcold Fridge

Never heard of this happening in a residential fridge or an RV fridge. While opening the crisper the glass shelf that acts as a lid for the crisper shattered, and no, there wasn't a lot of weight on it. The glass is designed to break into tiny pieces which it did. Too bad my foot found one of the pieces that the vacuum didn't. Dealer responded immediately & is having a new shelf shipped to my home address which is great service in my opinion. What fun would RV'ing be without these minor setbacks?

Tempered glass is very strong on its surface. However, if tapped with something hard (metal or even other glass) on the edge will cause it to shatter.

Years ago I rented a river home that was missing a glass shelf in the fridge. I was able to find a wire rack (for cooking cookies on?) that I cut down to the proper size. It worked for me - and I'd bet the next occupants to.
