Cable tv?

We are fairly new to camping and so far have adapted quite well. We are new to fulltiming and stay at one campground near the beach. A KOA. They provide cable but it isn't very good. We wanted to have Direct TV come and hook up regular cable for us but ehen they came they told us they weren't setting up on tripods anymore and had to dig a footer to set it on and of course the campground said no way so we were then told it could be hooked directly to the camper. Is this a good idea? I didn't think so but I don't know. HELP?

The only problem I see with mounting to the trailer is that the trailer will most likely be under a shade tree and you won't be able to pick up the satellite signal.

We use to bring out all of our satellite stuff from the house when on trips but after the NATIONAL BROADCAST came out with their digital HDTV setup we started using it with the OTA BATWING roof antenna on the trailer. Here on the east side of the US we get from 6-36 local town stations just about where ever we go. This is full blown full screen high def television for FREE to the public. Stopped bringing out the satellite stuff after that.

You might be in a real good spot to get all of the local towns national broadcast channels ABC-CBS-FOX-NBC-PBS all in high quality high def digital TV at your trailer. Then just use the camp site cable for the few CABLE stations you want to watch like CNN etc...

Like us you probably only watch NCIS and CSI anyway...

Really do check out the National Broadcast Digital TV for the public. All you need is a HD ready HDTV and your OTA BATWING antenna. Being digital it is either very very good or nothing at all... After watching this you might not want to mess with the SAT TV. We use the 22-inch VIZIO here in our OFF-ROAD POPUP. Even the squirrels in the woods like to watch NCIS and CSI hehe...

What we do in the POPUP is switch from ANTENNA to CABLE using the TV REMOTE - Click Click

We usually hang out at Westmoreland SP here locally but have been to Virgina Beach a few times with the kids at some camp ground where the camp sites sit back under the trees at the beach... forget the name of it... We go to Myrtle Beach and Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge alot or the Blue Ridge/Skyline Drive sites. Love LOFT MTN at Skyline drive and another off-road site behind Harrisonburg VA up on the state border between VA and WV. Near a place called FLAGPOLE KNOB... Have to drag my OFF ROAD POPUP over a shallow rock creek bed to get to it hehe... I like to setup for RACES-SKYWARN-Navy Mars Radio alerts up there...
