Campsite Lengths
When, for example, a state park indicates that the 'maximum vehicle length' is 25 feet for a particular camping spot, in your experience, is there wiggle room for putting a larger TT in a spot this size? In my situation, I'd like to put a 29L in a spot indicated to be this size.

I would never chance exceeding the posted length unless I made a trip to the park and made my own personal measurement of the site before bringing my trailer and finding out it won't fit. Your "wiggle room" may be allowing the back of your trailer go back farther than it is supposed to go. But I wouldn't rely on that possibility. Your stabilizers may be ineffective in doing so. JMO.

Many of the state parks we go to, usually the posted max length is almost hanging out in the road !!!

Being 40ft I always need to watch where I am going to stay, as most SP in NY run 30Ft avg. As stated above there is little wiggle room due to obstuctions, roads or level ground in my experience. Some state parks allow you to position your rig however you like on the site some are only one way. Then there is the parking of the TV which can be a challenge depending on the layouts. If you can scope it out or possibly call the CG they might be helpful, but they are usually fairly close on max IME.

We go one up, then when we get there and settled in we take the map and pencil and head out to walk the grounds and note the sites that we like and can fit in.

Things are a bit different out here in the wild west. Typically "Max Vehicle Lenght" refers to the flat area of the driveway. I have taken my rig into spots listed as 25 foot spots. Typically what will happen is that the back of the trailer will hang over the back of the cement parking block in the back.

Call the campground and ask about the sites. If I have not been to a campground, or know someone that has been there, I call and ask.

State parks in Arizona have questions that they ask you, like what electric you need, 30 or50 amp- back in or pull thru-- and what is the minuim length you need. I always punch in 65 feet cause the trailer and truck is 57 feet hooked up. That gives me a little more room.

Here in Virginia, SP reservations will ask about the length of your rig, and if you are longer than their max, they tell you sorry, you're too long. And in my experience, they know what they are talking about. On one trip, I was only 1 foot under their max, and when I got to the site, it was obvious why the max, as I had difficulty getting in because of trees on the site. I made it, but just barely. Any longer and I probably wouldn't have made it in. Would have been a big disappointment if I had assumed I had "wiggle room".

Your 29L is 33' feet long bumper to hitch also. I have a 29L and when I 'm hooked up I am 53' long. I would hate to hit something and then my insurance find out I was trying to squeeze in somewhere I knew I was to long for. Insurance company will deny claims for such a reason.....
