Carefree Electric awning

I have a Carefree Electric awning and its the dump kind and I would to change it to a tip awning so I can tie it down , they make a kit that changes it , has any one change from that to a tip awning , also I winter in Florida and had a Manual one in the past and have gone 2 months and never have to put it up , was tied down and De flappers on the ends of the cloth. with the one I have now I worry about the wind getting to it since there is no way of securing the ends of the cloth like on the manual. has any had any experience with that??

There is another idea that may work for you.buy a Direct response kit. I think they are 115 dollars. It's a simple matter of installing a small module by the motor and running another 12 volt line down the arm into the trailer and to the switch. If it gets too windy it will retract on its own. The kit comes with a dual switch and 17 feet of wire. If you don't like that idea you can make feet that go from the roller to the ground. Some have made them out of PVC and others out of telescoping boat hooks. The Forest River forum have several pictures. Know that a strong wind can even damage these. If the weather is questionable just roll it in.
