Cargo Accessory Receiver

My Jayco 29RKS came with the frame mounting brackets for the cargo accessory receiver, I installed the factory receiver as an aftermarket add on.
The Jayco part number is: 0240269 - Hitch, Accessory
I ordered mine from Indiana R.V. Connection and paid $170.00, FOB, Middlebury IN. I had the luxury to be able to pick mine up, shipping would add to the final price.
I attached the hitch with 1/2" grade 8 hardware. The warning label on the hitch indicates that it is rated for 300 lbs. The receiver is very well made and the install was straight forward. I installed it by myself using a floor jack, but two people would make the install much easier.
I also used scotch lock connectors to tap into trailer wiring - stop, tail and turn - to a a 4 way flat trailer connector, I plan to pull a small utility trailer behind the TT.(Jayco wiring colors did not match standard trailer wiring colors - Duh!) The Jayco wiring was loosely hung as pictured, and I ended up installing split vinyl wire loom, covering all exposed wires (the whole trailer).

I would make those wire connections more permanent eventually.

Corrosion can give you some weird troubles.

I couldn't note every detail in my post, else it would have read like manuscript. Wire connections were wrapped in self sealing silicone tape, before being covered by the wire loom. I also used the same silicone tape to seal every factory "wire nut" connection under the trailer. (lots of 'em) Thanks for your heads up.

X 2!!! Those scotch locks are good for a quick repair, but solder and liquid tape is a permanent solution.

JB,

Can you double tow two bumper pulls in Indiana? Unless something changed, it is illegal here in Mi. Only allowed if the front trailer is a 5r.

I also added the cargo hitch afterward. I used a couple tie down straps to "hoist" the cargo hitch up if I remember correctly. It definitely a pretty easy job for one, and even easier if you have two people.

According to an interweb searh I did, towing my utility trailer
behind the TT is legal in Indiana, KY, TN etc. I have towed my golf cart behind a previous TT with no problems.

PS - the factory lights on Jayco's (all of 'em) are connected to the factory wire harness using unsealed scotch lock connectors.
