Catalina SP this past weekend.

Beautiful weekend at Catalina SP in Tucson, AZ despite it being a little chilly and snow on the Mtns!!
Windy Friday nite and the Jayco was a champ thru the gusts!
Thought I would share a couple of pictures.

Any campsite with mountains in the background is a keeper! Sounds like the winds weren't to bad after all.

Yes to both. lol
But it is a most rare site to see a mountain lion come down out of the mtns.
The coyotes are aloof and you will hear them before you ever see them.

Bob, Friday nite it was quite windy with some gusts. The G2 handled it with ease. A little rockin and shakin every once in awhile. No problem.

Dave, lol, this was taken early in the morning and it was a tad chilly out. My other half, however, was inside making Bloody Mary's.

Kat,

I had a bad experience with winds in Albuquerque a few years ago during April with sustained winds around 40mph, and gusting 50mph to 60mph while camping at High Desert RV Park. I had an east side perimeter site that had a slope to it so my tongue was almost fully extended even with some blocks of wood under it. The wind was so strong hitting the side of my TT that I noticed that the bottom plate on my tongue jack was showing signs of some movement on the block of wood.

Went and purchased some scissor chocks, put them on, and a couple of hours later there was still movement at the tongue jack

Anyway, long story short, the CG manager gave us another interior site that made a world of difference. There were three of us (two-TT's, one FW) that moved.

I won't even get into the fine sand

Bob

Kat Catalina is super nice. We go there every September to start our camping season, Sept-May. Normally we go there in November for Thanksgiving but this year we are going back to Lost Dutchman sp. It looks like you were in Campground B. Good campground host. Later Ernie

WOW.......that sounded hairy!!! Being from AZ and knowing the winds in the Spring, I try to find a campsite that one of the ends of the TT will face the headwind as opposed to a crosswind.
No fun sitting at the campsite with fine sand covering your beer can!!

I thought 20-25mph winds were strong. I guess you don't get to use your awning very much there.

In the Spring we get some winds. But in the summer we use the awning alot.
Definitely draw it up if we go on the lake or away from the campsite.
