Check winegard TV antenna handle crank!!

Quick lesson I learned that I thought I would pass on for those of you that have purchased new or new to you campers. Make sure the handle is seated all the way and hex nut is snug. Mine came off while traveling and fell behind the slide. Of course I did not notice until I opened the slide and jammed it against the slide wall. Thankfully no damage and I was able to put the handle assembly back together. Not only will the handle come off, the directional plate, longer pvc tube that connects to antenna head on roof and the spring will also come off...

Just a quick check to do because if it does come loose and fall it will most likely be when your traveling and you can't see it when slides are closed.

Mine came off in my hand the other day. Replaced everything and tightened the set screw.

That was one of the very first things I had to do to my new trailer. Got it home, went to put the antenna up, and the handle fell off in my hand. Luckily it survived PDI and the drive home so it didn't get lost.

Good bit of advice there.

I had a difference experience. I was opening the slide, got it about 1/2 way out and heard a loud beeping noise, which I never heard before, checked outside to see if I was hitting anything but all was fine. Even if I was against something I didn't think it was beep. Anyway, it ended up that the smoke detector fell off the ceiling and was on the slide as I was opening it it was pressing the TEST button against the inside of the slide, so now I check the smoke detector before I open the slid4e

The cover to our smoke detector was on the floor when we did the PDI, so they replaced it. We haven't used the antenna yet, but when we do, will be wary of it coming off as we crank it up or down.
