city water inlet and gravity inlet

I am new to this forum having just bought a 2011 Jay flight g2 23 FB. According to the manual, I should be able to fill the fresh water holding tank through either inlets. I initially tried to fill the tank through the city inlet but it would not work. I finally used the gravity inlet and it filled up nicely. Did I do something wrong with the city outlet? I looked under the sink and there does not appear to be a fill tube to the fresh water holding tank on the city inlet. I appreciate any input. Thanks.

The city water connection will not fill the water tank, you must use the water tank gravity fill connection.

Too my knowledge you have to use the gravity fill.

I am a new owner as well (as of July). The wording in the owner's manual is confusing at best. There seems to be no way to fill the tank from the city inlet. You must use the gravity fill.

Also be aware of the FW tank's tendency to lose water as you travel via the overflow tubes. Look for other threads that discuss this.

In all my years and 4 different campers, have never seen or heard of one that you could fill the FW tank through city water. Most of the ones I have seen have a valve that prevents city water from getting into FW tank when pressurized. Furthermore, can't imagine why that would be possible, as the city water supply would quickly fill and overflow the FW tank when turned on.

In the newer model Eagle 5th wheels you can fill the FW tank only through the city connection as there is no gravity feed. There are some areas in the manuals that are written it seems for all Jayco's with some eliminating criteria.
