Question Cleaning a stick & tin rig?

What do you guys use to clean your aluminum-sided TTs?

I'm going to have to give mine its first bath in a couple weeks, and I'm wondering what is the best soap/cleaner to use for the aluminum siding?

What's this I hear about "orange stuff from the dollar store"?

Any other pointers on cleaning the outside would be greatly appreciated!

I use rv wash to wash it, hit the streaks with watered down Awesome from the dollar store dry with a chamois and then wax with Nu Finish.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/3975?wmlsp...la&wl6=5178262

It goes on super easy and comes off easy too. You can also use in the full sun since that can be a problems ya know.

Good to know, I have a mostly full bottle of NuFinish I use to polish my empty brass, works great!

I washed my TT for the first time this past weekend. I tried Armor All car wash and wax at first but it did nothing to remove the black streaks. I used diluted Awesome Orange from the Dollar Store and it worked great on the streaks. I just put some in a spray bottle and used some heavy paper towels to wipe it off.

The best advice I could give is to protect the original finish. The more oxidized and porous your finish becomes - the faster black streaks appear and harder it becomes to remove them.

I keep my siding waxed - and when I do wash it, almost all the streaks come off with a soft brush and plain water. I wash my TT with an extending water-wand I bought at W*M

And clean your roof at least 2-3 times a year...it's the roof that gives you black streaks!

I would be careful with the orange stuff from the dollar store. Its a degreaser and can be pretty hard on decals and plastics. I help my dad clean his old stick and tin trailer, clean the roof, black streak remover for the streaks, and an automotive wash (doesn't have to be an expensive one).

I've always used diluted Simple Green and full strength on stubborn spots. On the roof, Spic 'n Span in the same manner.

I stick 8" long pool noodles on my rain gutters to help with black streaks, keeps the water away for the most part.

Wash the roof with spic & span, was rest of trailer with Dawn. Wax with Meguires, cleaner/wax. works good for me. We have a Bungalow and 33Rlds, and that keeps me busy for a few days. hahaha

The telescoping RV brush makes it much easier also to wash the trailer IMO.

+1 WD-40 works wonders on those pesky black streaks.

Lot of good ideas here. We left our Jayco in Az and just bought a used trailer in Idaho today. It needs a lot of TLC both inside and out.

I wash my TT with Turtle Wax Zip carwash and wax.
As for black streaks my local dealer recommended by far hands down Korkay Awning And Black Streak Remover. I didn't believe it until I tried it virtually no effort required in removing the most stuborn black streaks.

To help with black streaks, clip wooden clothes pins to the ends of the gutters, our salesman gave us this hint. Water will follow the pins away from the camper!

You can purchase Gutter Extensions to help with streaking.
