Converter Question

I have a 2011 G2 25RKS have had it about 1 month has been parked in driveway because of weather have not got to take it out yet. yesterday went out to show it to frends and had no 12 volt power had AC as TV set would turn on microwave works and fridge but no dc out of converter and batterys on front of trailer were down to 6 volts. Pluged cord into pickup and everything works in trailer. Any thoughts on problem.

Was the trailer pluged in for that week? Or was it unpluged? If unpluged there is a draw when nothing is in use that may be the answer why it power less.

Check the fuse at the battery and make sure it has not blown. If it works on the 7pin, then I believe the fuses in the converter are ok, but would not hurt to check them as well.

When you plugged in the 7pin did the voltage go up on the battery terminals?

Yes it was pluged in for a month all fuses are good at the converter and checked fuse at batterys it was good also. when pluged in at 7 pin and truck running batterys were charging. Checked with dealer and said that converter was bad and of course they will have to order it. 4 weeks befor vacation hoped to use it at least one weekend befor went on vacation for a week.

No reason why you cant still use it for a weekend now. If you have a separate battery charger, take it along and keep it hooked up to your batteries. As long as you are not being a power hog, I think you would be fine. I would also recommend running as much as possible on a portable space heater rather than your furnace to save battery.

Either way - make sure you go ahead and get that battery charged up as soon as possible as letting it sit drained like that will impact its life.

If it is not plugged in the batteries will die in a few days because of all the sensors that eat up power. If you really want the battery to stay up you should disconnect it if you are parked for around a week.

I was told by the Dealer to simply remove the fuse when not using the trailer at the battery up front. I was told this will help keep the battery fresh,...

Yes, it would keep the battery from being discharged. I would not recommend it because it would tend to allow more corrosion which I have been fighting with recently. For short term storage a master kill switch would be preferred.

If you can not stay plugged in and you store the TT for very long, I think the best option is to remove the battery and keep it on a Battery Tender or other good quality trickle charger.
