Converting electric stabilizers to manual

I have the electric stabilizers on my 338 RETS and was wondering if anyone with the electric stabilizers used them manually when the motor went instead of fixing it. The end opposite the motor has a slot that you can use to bring it up and down manually (The hand crank for it is included) and you can easily make a fitting for it that you can use with a battery drill. Mine is only one year old and already I'm having problems. Just wondering.

Hi John,

I never liked the electric stabilizers that came on my Keystone. Never could tell how much load was on them and they are very narrow once they are deployed. One of the motors quit a couple of years ago and instead of spending the $300 on a replacement, I bought 6 scissor jacks and 2 sets of the BAL stabilizer arms. I put 4 of the jacks in the traditional corners, the other 2 I put in the middle of the camper, one of them right next to the stairs. Between the 6 jacks and the BAL stabilizer arms, our camper is rock solid when parked.

Thanks sounds like the way to go.

Sure it's the motor? My switch went bad on mine in the first year. Since replacing I have not had any issues. Check that first is my advice.

I would not have the things on my RV.. as a campground host one of the biggest problems people come to me with is "my stabilizers wont do down".. so yes I would convert them... they are just too problematic.

My electric stabilizers went bad due to corrosion on the connections (the motor was fine). However, I disconnected the motor and now use the hand crank connection, with an adapter attached to my drill/driver (not an impact driver cuz it makes too much noise), to lower the stabilizers. If you don't disconnect the motor it is more difficult to lower the stabilizers.

Are you still within the two year warranty?

Yes, the first year of 2. Will get it repaired but if it goes after the warranty they're going to go

Did you buy from WES? They practically refuse to sell you a camper with electric stabilizers because they say they go bad all the time, especially with all the saltwater around us.
