cracks and holes along awning top

I notice today small cracks and holes along the very top of the awning where our Florida sun beats down on it. No other place. I put those patch tapes the clear one you get with a raft over them. Does anyone think it would help to smear some +50 sunscreen along that top ridge? It's 5 years old from manufacture date even though it's only been three years since purchase.

I doubt sunscreen, which needs to be reapplied often would do anything. There are products to cover your awning but, 5 years in the Fla sun is not bad. We replace ours in Az little more often than that. One of the disadvantages of living in a sunny area... but the good far out weights the bad

They do make an awning tape which will hold much better than the small patches you used. But they are only a stop gap, once it starts to go your not far from needing to replace the awning.
