Unhappy Dealership can no longer get Jayco Parts

According to our local dealer, who we bought our Jayco from in 2014,they are no longer able to purchase parts for any Jayco products. Thor who purchased Jayco is closing all small dealers off from part purchases; the dealer can install any part but the consumer has to purchase the part themselves.

Has anyone been told by their dealer about this?

Wonder what the definition of a small dealer is? I have not heard of this.

Will try and verify in the am with my small dealer!

If this is true so much for business as usual and no changes after the sale to Thor.

Are they still selling JAYCO?

Then how would they do warranty work?

This does not sound right. In fact, it really sounds more like a business that is having financial difficulties and can't pay their bills. It certainly cries out for further checking.

Question

I really find that hard to believe! There is a lot of money being made by Jayco or now "Thor" supplying parts to these dealers. Big business. Why would Thor care who sells their parts...the more demand, means more supply which in turn means more MONEY, the whole reason for being in business. The more locations selling their parts the better. And Jayco parts will always be in demand as long as the RVs are made.
Haven't checked with the dealers in my area; but then again I wouldn't consider any of them to be a "small business" and their parts depts. are also a big part of the business. I actually don't know any "small dealer" selling Jayco parts.

This sounds more like your dealer has not been paying his bills and been cut off by the supplier.

Sounds like they have some demand for your used rv and they want you to trade it.

This dealership has been in business since 1964 here in Columbia, SC and do a lot of business so I know that isn't the issue. Thor notified them that the Jayco products/ business is being taking away from "mom & pop" dealerships and being referred to the bigger establishments- our dealer said they were told by Thor that parts and warranty issues will now have to be sent to Camping World in Columbia.

We just bought our camper in 2014 and NOT looking to trade-we have had some minor issues, covered under warranty, and our dealership was just letting us know of the new changes.

Warranty issues will have to be addressed by Camping World in Columbia, SC, our dealer has a few Jayco's on their lot that they will sell, but not sure if they will continue with sales for Jayco since Thor's decision

When we need to we will-it was just easier to have it done by our dealer.

Hmm.
I don't think a dealer can get much smaller than our local one.

Does this dealership sell other brands or just Jayco?

Just so no one is deceived by the "Jayco Factory Direct Parts" this IS NOT Jayco.

The registrant on that URL is:
Registrant Name: David Skogebo
Registrant Organization: World Wide RV
Registrant Street: 4660 E Main St.
Registrant City: mesa
Registrant State/Province: Arizona
Registrant Postal Code: 85205
Registrant Country: US
Registrant Phone: (480) 832-5600

Jayco should (and probably will) file a Copyright infringement and get that URL taken down.

I also suspect your dealer is telling you a fib to cover. I'd bet they have been cut-off for non-payment of bills or have had too many service complaints.

I do know that Jayco has a double standard for service complaints. They ride the mom-and-pop's for every little consumer complaint, and completely ignore complaints about Camping World dealers.

But I bought my trailer from a "mom-and-pop" that has a tiny lot near Atlanta yet sells Jayco's right and left. I seriously doubt Jayco would cut their nose off to despite their face. In addition they could probably be sued for restraint of trade if they did so.

Thor's legal dept may just be enforcing "the exclusivity clause". Many RV manuf don't allow multiple dealers within a 50 mile radius of each other. Had a freind look at and buy a Grand Design in Tampa FL at the RV show, but they had to get it from the dealer's "other" store near Orlando. It could not be purchased from the Tampa location because another dealer had the "exclusivity rights".
