Diflex II Roofing / Self Leveling Sealant

I see that the Jay Flight uses the Diflex II roof, which is a TPO. I sent Jayco a message asking which Dicor sealant they were using on the roof at the factory, 501 or 610. Dicor 610SASLW-1 looks the same, but it's supposed to be more suited for the TPO according to Dicor. Jayco's reply was they use the Dicor 501LSW. I've always used the 501, but then again I've never had a TPO roof.

Has anybody messed with the Dicor 610 (The blue dicor tube), or is the 501 still the one to use? Anybody use anything that's better than the dicor? It's never failed me, but I'm always open to see what's out there. I've eyeballed the Sikaflex products and others, but have never used anything else.

Wish there wasn't so many choices.

Mine is a 2014 197 that I got new in July. My roof is a Alpha Ply, it has a texture To it. You might want to read on your paper work on what kind of roof you have with your trailer, like the window sticker before you U buy. Heads up.

I know they swapped to DiFlex, just not sure when. Probably sometime this year. I know ours is brand new off the line. Heck the dicor lap sealant on it now is still fairly soft. I checked the offline date and it was within a week or so. I know 501 will work on either, so that's a safe bet. I'll look at the paperwork, then probably call with our VIN to see what Jayco says.

My roof has a texture to it also. I emailed Jayco with my VIN asking what roof was on it and she claimed it was Diflex. The only paperwork on the roof that was in my manual packet was a warranty certificate for Diflex... I have a 2014 264bh Swift...

I'm going to do some research and see what they say. If it's Diflex II, curious if they used the 501 lap sealant, or used the 610 ultra sealant as Dicor recommends for that specific roof. Curious if the 2 sealants are compatible with each other.

Don't know. Jayco's response was: "I have that this is a Diflex roof and you can use Dicor self leveling sealant." The did not give any specific response. The only sealant my dealership had on display was the 501 (I am assuming because they say it works for both types of roof)

Although dicor website recommends 610, a rep emailed me back a bit ago and said 501 was fine. Guess I'll stick to that until proven otherwise.

You are right. Jay flight models use that kind of roof liner for 2015. You can go the the Jayco web site and look for 2015 catalog and look at standerd options and there it is. I have a 2014 Jay Feather Ultra and my roof has the Alpha roof, very intresting.

Well, picked up the new Jay Flight today. Sure enough, have a piece of paperwork for everything, except the roof. But, I'm 99% sure it's the DiFlex II. I'll give Jayco a call with the VIN and see what they say. Either way, 501 or 502 will work with the DiFlex II roof.

I gave Jayco my VIN to verify what roof was on it, and they said DiFlex II. Funny thing is, they said it was NOT TPO. Funny. Cmon Jayco, do you really know your product that well? So, for the heck of it, knowing the answer I call Dicor on the phone and tell them Jayco says that DiFlex II isn't TPO. Of course they say, yes it is. That's where the help from Dicor stopped.

Now, we know what it is, and that it's on our rig. So, between Jayco and Dicor, neither one could produce any kind of paperwork stating the dos, don't, warranty etc, which I should have received with the unit. Dicor said, look on our site. I do, there is nothing for that roof besides the sales pitch. Jayco says, it's in the manual. No it's not, at least not for that roof or any specific roof. Just says check sealant etc. Duh. Jayco also says they've never put paperwork for the roofs in the units. Uh, then how come people on this forum are saying, "my unit came with this or that paperwork, roof specific". Even though I know all of that, it still urps me that you're expected to follow the guidelines to satisfy the warranty, yet neither company could provide me with any information. Thank goodness we've been around the block and know a few things about RVs. Sad sad sad. I've lost faith in the answers I'm getting from Jayco. At least they answer there emails though. Guess I'll have to do this one like all the others, make a trip to the factory, and start racking their brain. We've done it on every one we've owned, since the responses I mentioned above, are all too typical of this industry. When you're face to face with them, the responses tend to be a shade different.

I believe the proven 501 will work on almost every roof. It’s not Dicors responsibility to tell us what product to use on our roofs; Jayco should be the one who dictates what product to be used on their roofs. Not surprised Jayco did not know what type of roof we had either.

I'm going to stick with the 501. I had thought 502 was pretty much the same thing, and I think it is, but supposedly it was for the production level. Dealer I bought from, doesn't carry the 501, but does carry the 502. It was a black and white tube opposed to the green and white. First time I've seen 502 on the shelf.

Not the first time something like that has happened, as in manf not know what they should know. On our most recent fifth wheel, I was on the phone with the factory asking about tank sizes since the brochure advertised 4, and I had 5. They had the prints, went out on the assembly line while I was on the phone, and still took a shot in the dark. I never knew what they really were, just big.
