Digital Thermostat

Hello
I was at my Jayco dealer yesterday and was asking about switching the thermostat from Analog to Digitial
Ours is a never Used 2016 JFRB23 and was told by the parts manager that now the trailers come so you cannot change it and keep your two stage fan
Anyone else heard of this?

Nope. My digital thermostat has a 2-stage fan control. I guess if you went with a standard household model, this could be the case. But if you go with the digital option for the particular manufacturer (Coleman Mach for example, that's mine) then all the controls should be there and the change out will be wire for wire. Easy peasy. But that's a little more expensive.

This is one of my absolute favorite mods to my trailer. The analog thermostat allowed unacceptably wide swings in temperature. The digital holds a much more consistent temp. I've heard that this can be adjusted in an analog thermostat, but I didn't know that before I already had the digital one in hand, so I never bothered to look into that.

Thanks
Don't let my wife hear me say this but I'm not above the money if it gets me where I want to be
Ill look into the Coleman mach
The Jayco Rep telling me you couldn't sounded kinda weird given all reading I had done
Wire for wire is right about my abilities so thanks again

I would bet you were misinformed. They were wire for wire when I changed mine out. I had the mod for a std thermostat, adding the 2 stage switch but it was not worth my time.

The Coleman Mach direct replacement digitals are available on Ebay for about $60. Most with free shipping. They come in black or white. I plan on doing this mod shortly after I take delivery.

Not to sound like a salesman.....but the two best mods/additions I have made to my Jayco is (1) Purchase of Andersen levelers, and (2) Installing a Coleman Mach Digital thermostat that comes with the 2 stage fan control. Both products are well worth the money.

The first one I replaced, I bought household model and wired the fan speed to a tiny toggle mounted next to thermostat. This time I went with the RV model mentioned above.

IMHO, definately put your money into the Coleman Mach digital thermostat. Works like a charm and even I was able to install it...and I'm electronically handicapped. It's one of the first mods I did.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

Another Coleman Mach digital upgrade. Purchased from Amazon and installed a couple months ago. Used it for the first time on a trip this past weekend. Worked perfectly for A/C and heat. 2 stage fan is included on this model.

It took me 30 mins to install. The temp control is far superior to the analog one. I think the analog had a +-4 degrees and this one holds it to +-1 degree. No getting up in the night to fix it. Super simple, just mark your wires...I think there were slight differences in colors, and I also took pictures with my phone of the original set up as well to help identify everything.

I used the same thermostat in my bedroom AC unit, even though it does not have heat. Just leave the heater leads off.
The cool only thermostat costs $20. more.

I have the same story as all the others; purchased from ebay and wired up color for color.

But the cheap skate in me said ... keep the old tstat and reinstall it at selling time, then I'll have one readily available for the next toy.

Like just about everyone else, I ordered the Coleman Mach on Amazon for my new rig which should be coming in a couple days.

LOL!! My thoughts exactly!! I have a whole bag of stuff that's getting traded back into my trailer when I sell it (shower head and thermostat are two examples)!! I thought I was the only one cheap enough to do that!!

I took one of my roof vents off my old rig. Swapped the flat screen tv out for the original set also.

What exactly is meant by two-stage fan control. Is this referring to the AC or Furnace? Either way, do you need specific model to enable this, or is it "built in" and just not hooked up? On my current trailer 2015 27RLS with standard AC, I can turn AC on or off, I can turn heat on or off, but in either case I only have one fan speed.
