Question Dim Tail Lights

Getting unit up for a trip late the other afternoon. Was checking lights and noticed both tail lights seemed to be dim. Took lens off, and the inside was very dusty, with bulbs covered with dust. Cleaned bulbs, and now have full power. Lens covers fit tight, no cracks , etc. Still wondering how dust entered both lights. Unit is a 2012 tt, and I have traveled a few dirt roads.

I'm not sure what you would consider tight. Those covers don't exactly fit like they are Tupperware covers. In fact there isn't much holding them on at all. We've towed in pouring rain and had water inside the covers.
