Do you have a 2015 or 2016 White Hawk 27DSRL? No Pantry...

Hello Everyone,

New member here. My husband and I are looking at purchasing a Jayco from RV Direct online. We really wanted the Jay Flight 27RLS, but apparently, Jayco has stopped making that and they are offering the 28RLS and we don't like that floor plan. With the 28, you lose the nice big double cupboard that was over the toilet in the bathroom, but you still get the pantry in the kitchen. So we moved on to the White Hawk. Well, in the 2015 and 2016 White Hawk's 27DSRL, you lose the pantry by the fridge. We were going to save about 6K versus buying from a local dealer, but I am lamenting that fact that they took out that kitchen pantry. Storage is a big deal in any camper.

So, if you have a 2015 or 2016 White Hawk 27DSRL, how are you getting along without the pantry? Any tips, comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Lisa

We have a 2015 28DSBH and have the pantry by the fridge. I don't know the floor plan you are looking at but our White Hawk has the pantry. Now...the bath does not have the cupboard you mention but I don't see how there would be room for something like that in our 28DSBH. Little compact in there and any more cabinets would not be good (though I'd never turn down storage...even though we think there is ample storage already).

Thank you for your reply and I'm sorry I forgot to mention it's the 2015 or 2016 White Hawk 27DSRL. I edited my post. Thanks.

We had a 26RLS with no pantry. I truly missed it. We traveled for 2 to 3 weeks at a time so it would have been nice to have the extra storage. We used the above chairs and couch for some of the kitchen storage. We ended trading in after 2 1/2 yrs for the Eagle with a pantry, linen closet and wardrobe. Love the storage and the layout of the Eagle.

What about the Jay Flight 28RLS? It has a pantry but you are right about the bathroom storage. There will be some adjustments to consider. It is easier to find linen space than pantry space.

Maromeo,

On the 28RLS, they left the pantry in and took out the double linen closet that was above the toilet on that outside wall and shoved the toilet back into a small bathroom and then left that outside wall with nothing but a window?! It's like wasted space there now by the window. I wish they would talk to actual campers before they make these designs.

It looks like we're just going to go with a White Hawk 27DSRL and I will have to make do without the pantry space. It's the only one we can order from the wholesaler, besides the 28RLS, in that size category.

We own a new (2015) 27DSRL. We like it. I decided to make an extra set of shelves for the larger cabinet in the bedroom, and for the larger cabinet in the kitchen (above sink). My brother-in-law owns a 24.5' Gulfstream trailer with bunks and there is little comparison between the two. Ours has MUCH more usable storage.
I'm sure a larger trailer would provide more storage - for a price. But so far we have found that the 27DSRL is well designed and offers about as much storage as possible with the floor plan. I hope that after you consider how to store needed items you will feel that your trailer suits your needs as much as we have discovered that about ours.
