We always turn ours off at night and back on in the morning, sometimes I turn it back off after breakfast.

If you forget to turn it back on before showers turn gas and electric on it takes maybe 10 minutes to warm up. I can hear the gas furnace if I put my ear near the wall there and that way you know if it's warmed up when it shuts off.

We usually are on sites where we pay electric so gas is what we use most of the time. One 30lb. tank lasts about 6-8 weeks in the summer.
