Do you travel with your dining table up or down?

I am wondering if it is best to travel with my dining table down or should I just leave it up?
When I was shopping for new TT's at the dealership I noticed they all have a little "wiggle" in them and are not that sturdy.
Last summer when I went to leave my last destination I pulled up on the table to take it down and the whole base popped off the floor. The RV repairman just screwed it back down ,without using any reinforcements underneath and I have been leary of messing with it ever-since. If I do have to take it down I now make sure my feet are on the base before I lift up.
Also am curious how much it 'wiggles/bounces' while I am traveling if it is up?
Just wondering if there is a "best-practice"?

We put ours down. I found even with rubber feet on it, it still slid around a little. I would hate to have it break the window it sits next to in my 26BH, if I had to make a sudden turn.

Do you have the table that has two pipes going into the floor (I suspect so) or the freestanding one? We have the one that has the two pipes into the floor and leave it up. However. Debating on what I end up doing with bike transport options I may start carrying them in this location so that would mean lowering the table.

We travel with ours down after having the hardware that attaches it to the wall start pulling out from the edge of the table.

The 2 pipes going down,
The ones I 'shook & wiggled' at the dealership before buying was also 2 pipes!
Wondering about using the bike space idea? That may "kill 2 birds with one stone" as I don't have a re-inforced bumper yet

We leave ours set up. One of the major reasons why we decided to get a TT is we want a minimum of set-up and tear-down while we're camping, so not having to fiddle with the table is on that list.

Fifth year and never had a problem leaving ours up. Mine is the two pipe style. The cone like based at the bottom of mine are rock solid. They don't budge at all.

We have the one that has the wall slide attachment and a single foot.
After having that foot break off and the slide pull away from the wall we put it down each time.

Our TT does a lot of bouncing on logging and dirt roads.

And we do put bikes inside. The more I think about it the less I want to carry bikes outside. Most of our trips are long and involve dirt roads or snow. There is a hassle factor of putting bikes inside. Makes it hard to eat lunch on the side of the road.

No option for ours. The table is in the path of the bed slide, so it has to be put down and the couch has to be laid flat.

This isn't my idea but the full process might kill 3 or 4 birds with one stone. But that may depend a bit on your setup.

Here is some photos and info on what I am looking at doing.

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...els-44515.html

This solves the table up or down issue.

It solves where to put the bikes issue. I don't like the idea of the bumper mount without beefing it up as you pointed out plus between the spare tire and bumper mount grill there isn't much room anyhow on our camper.

The third issue for us is that we access storage under the benches by removing the pad and life the plywood. The plywood is pretty thin, maybe 1/4". This will have to be beefed up which we want to do anyhow. The guy in the article mentioned he went up to 3/4". I would do at least 1/2". Then I will set it up so I can flip the plywood with the fork mounts down for using the dinette for seating or up for bike transport. Now I don't have to store a bike rack somewhere.

The fourth issue is the common one I have seen here where the seat back on the bench isn't really fastened by much on one side. The side closest to the back of the camper is against the wall of the bath so that is strong but the one toward the front has the couch behind it and there is a small 1" tall piece of aluminum angle with one screw. Since I am doing the other changes I will beef this up as others have done.

I still need to take some measurements but it should be fine. The biggest problem is the kid's bikes don't have a front wheel with the quick release but they are about ready for new bikes again anyhow so that can be corrected next time around.

Those fork mount brackets are available here on Amazon and are pretty cheap. Well compared to what a bike rack costs.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000QJC5F8/

The only real draw back is having to haul the bikes in the camper if they are dirty. However now we have an outside shower. So we could rinse them off the night before heading home then pack up in the next morning.
