Does furnace metal box get hot?

A while back I added a pump on/off switch to the bathroom. When routing the wiring for the switch I had to take off the wooden vent panel cover from the front of the furnace. Ours is installed under the frig. I noticed there are wires and some plumbing that is very close to the metal enclosure for the furnace. Some were hanging loose and actually touching the metal enclosure.

Question - does that metal heat exchange box get very hot when using the furnace? We've not used the heat in the trailer yet but will be soon. I moved and tied up some of the wires away from the metal enclosure but will likely move more out of the way if the box gets very hot during use.

Mine is under the frig too, next to the pump. Where I have checked, no it does not get hot.

If you have not used the furnace, I would recommend running it for 30 minutes before your first trip with heat. If the dealer did not run it, it will burn of manufacturing oils and will stink and set off the smoke detector.

Happy Camping

Open it up and fire it off and you will be glad you did when it's to cold to open the windows. The outside of the furnace should be at room temps.
