Question Drain hot water heater

I am just now winterizing, have shut off city water, opened all faucets and am wondering how to drain the hot water heater?
Plan to blow air through to be sure pipes are empty.
Do I need anti-freeze in Seattle? If so, where do I put it besides pouring it down the toilet?

Both the surburban and Atwood water heaters have plugs. The Atwood is a white nylon plug and the surburban is metal with an anode rod attached. Use caution removing the plug especially if the heater was recently on. The anti freeze is drawn in to the water system using the water pump and then opening each faucet until the fluid is flowing. Be sure you bypass the water heater so you do not fill it with anti freeze. There are several posts on how to winterized your system. I have just provided an overview. Good luck

You want to put the AF down the sink drains and the bath/shower drain. Don't forget to open the the outside shower faucets! Those lines can hold alot of water. Also when you winterize the toilet, be sure to flush it when it is under pressure or the red stuff appears. We used to live in Gig Harbor and would always leave Drizair units in the refer and freezer with the doors open.
