Dual Battery Disconnect Switch

Is there a video that you know of, or a good description/drawing on how to hook up a dual 12V battery disconnect switch? Want to stop the parasitic drain in my TT this winter. I see the red switches at CW but am not real sure how it actually hooks into the system. And what's the best place to install the switch? Thanks.
Happy RVing
Jeff

Hook it up at the battery. If there's any short past that you are able to quick disconnect. Sometimes with the switch there is a diagram enclosed. And otherwise just search the web. In the photo albums of this forum there is also a diagram.

Leave the batteries connected in parallel. Put the switch on the negative side on the cable going to the RV from the batteries.

I have used this 4-position BLUE SEA BATTERY switch over the years...

OFF which means no connections are made
BAT 1 which means Battery ONE is only selected.
BOTH which means Battery 1 and Battery 2 are selected
BAT 2 which mean Battery 2 is only selected.

You can place this switch in POSITIVE 12VDC side or the FRAME GROUND side.

I have this diagram showing a 4-way switch controlling two sets of two 6VDC batteries that will give you an idea on how to just use for two each 12VDC batteries. Just install the 12VDC battery in the the place of the two 6VDC batteries in series.

Thank you so much.
RoyBraddy- that's exactly what I was hoping for and the brand of switch I want, but I'm looking only for a single on/off connection to hook on the negative side as suggested. Also wanting to install the DC digital meter panel.....any recommendations on which product to buy and the best location to install?
Happy RVing,
Jeff

There is no electrical reason for mounting a OFF-ON switch in the POSITIVE WIRES or the NEGATIVE WIRES.

My installation has alot of connections on the POSITIVE SIDE so this was best solution for me. I could of just as easy mounted the 4-way switch in the NEGATIVE cables and accomplished the same thing.

In the automotive world disconnecting the NEGATIVE cable first was always a good idea as you usually had the battery is very tight location and using a wrench on the terminals could very easily touch frame ground in the process of removing them. If you touched the NEGATIVE TERMINAL to ground nothing would happen..

Putting the ON-OFF Switch in the negative side would almost require two ON-OFF switch for two batteries. You could connect the two NEGATIVE cables to a terminal block I guess and then install a ON-OFF switch between the terminal block and frame ground.

This problem also comes up when you want to add a SHUNT DEVICE for remote current meter. Best place for that would be in the NEGATIVE CABLE lead.

I disagree. If there is a ground fault in the circuit somewhere then the disconnect will not isolate the batteries.
