Dumb question about slideouts

So the rubber trim around the slide out.
When you put out the slide out is the outer corner rubber meant to flop out then when you put it in the rubber then flops in- right?
On mine 1/2 of it wants to stay the wrong way n not flop
Or is it not meant to flop. I hit it w rubber seal conditioner regularly,. Just wondered which way I should be coaxing it.

It should come out and seal the slideout like a gasket. Mine does the same thing. A little annoying, but not a really big deal.

Mine did the same thing on the top. I found there was some sticky glue residue in a few places along the edges of the rubber seal and some places on the top edge of the slide out compartment that were sticky. Cleaned it up and now working much better.

The slide seals should not flop. I believe they're either glued in or snapped into a channel. As long as the seal is not ripped at the base you can re-glue it or snap it back in it's channel.

Not a dumb question at all. I believe you're talking about the sweep seal around your slide. I've had the same issue. What I found was if I placed a strip of velcro vertically about halfway in the depth of the slide it created enough friction to flip the sweep seal. This seems to be more of an issue on slides with no side windows. Hope this helps. Safe travels.

Thx

I used the word flop implying it's loose.
Guess I'm asking what it SHOULD do
When I slide OUT the outer rubber ribbon should flip and point outward, then when it put slide out in the rubber ribbon flips so it points inward.

Is that right?

Half of mine flips the other way when I go but directions so buckling will form in the rubber which can't be good

Yes that is right. It should stay in contact with the slide and do as you stated above.

Clean the rubber seals and then spray them with silicon. WD-40 now make a silicon spray and can be found at Lowes and Home Depot.

I use Thetford Premium RV Slide Out Seal Conditioner which is not cheap but I feel comfortable using it because it's made specifically for slides and the 1 can will last a long time. I also White Lithium Grease to keep things moving well. I do not want to repair my slide

Alignment

I observed the same on my slide. It turned out to be a good observation as it led me to take a closer look at the slide and I found it was not properly aligned. Because of the poor alignment the sweeps were not working as well as they should.

I took the rig back to my dealer at the end of the season and they realigned my slideout. The sweeps work better and I have to think proper alignment will reduce wear on the moving parts.

Sorry, I misinterpreted your meaning of flop. Mine slide side seals pretty much do the same thing. Somewhat normal, I think. Here's what I condition mine with.
