Dump valve stuck closed

Dagnabit another problem... was getting ready to head out on Wed and was dumping my tanks... I could not get the #2 gray tank to open... (kitchen) I pulled on it as hard as I could... tapped on it with a mallet (small one light taps) and no luck... any ideas what to do now... the Dealer cannot look at it till after I leave...

Any chance at all that it is stuck OPEN? The valve handles on our 2010 Jayco are different lengths, so it is not possible to know if one is open and one is closed by looking at their relation to one another. Our earlier Jaycos had valve handles that were level with each other when they were open and when they were closed but staggered when one was open and one was closed.

The waste valves on most trailers are the blade type which operate by having a blade with a hole in it slide back and forth over the tank opening, allowing water to flow or stopping it from flowing. These blade valves usually have rubber seals. If your valve is stuck CLOSED you might try spraying silicone into the slot where the blade slides back and forth thereby lubricating the rubber seals and perhaps freeing the blade to move. If you can see the blade assembly at all, try to see if it was pushed in at a slight angle thereby jamming it. If so, maybe you can move the handle up and down (rather than in and out) to try to relieve the jam.

Sorry, but those suggestions are all I have other than suggesting you remove the valve and replace it (with the mess that that entails).

Sam it is an enclosed underbelly so I cannot get at it to try anything.. and I know it is closed cause there is water in it. I am going to try the vice grip solution and see if that works

Ive got a black tank valve handle that is alot harder to open and close as the grey ones.
Of course my unit is an '02, and it could be the cable for the T-handle to the valve needs some silicon.
When we re-leveled I had brown water coming out of the sewer drain when I hooked the hose back up.
My bottom is enclosed too, but I'm hoping tp remove a few panels this weekend and see what Im dealing with.

Good luck with the vice-grips, I'd hate to force anything, especially on a newer unit like yours, but being a RVer too I totally understand !!

With my old trailer, I used to have to spray silicone on the seals at the the blade closure (gate) once or twice a year. I would have to get a can of silicone with the straw to get it in "around the bend". Let it sit for a couple of hours, and Bob's your father's brother...

Haven't had this problem with the new one yet, hopefully for a while, and not sure how easy it will be to get to the gate.
