Eagle 330 vs 338

Looking for opinions on pros and cons for either floorplan.

You also get the larger window in the rear because the entertainment system is in the side slide. Good view of the TV from almost every seat.

I can also place some pretty large items in the coat closet.

Thanks so much for your reply. The things you mentioned are the exact reasons I'm leaning towards the 330. Do you have the grill mount? If so where can you get the grill. Didn't see it listed as an aftermarket part from jayco. Did you find the tri fold bed big enough as its smaller than in the 338.

We went back and forth between the two floor plans and had pretty much chosen the 330RSTS already and then they released the 2017 floor plans for both and that cemented our choice of the 330RSTS. If your looking at 2016's or older, some of this may not apply.

At least for us, and with the bathroom/bedroom being the same in both, it comes down to preferences/needs in the living/kitchen area.

1. What Fairenatic already mentioned, plus.......

2. More "permanent" cabinet and "open" counter space. Permanent island is larger than the "rolling island" option in the 338RETS. In the 2017 model, the addition of the "appliance garage" to the right of the corner sink in the 338RETS limits the "open" counter space you can have.

3. With the sofa in the rear, it allows for a larger sofa/sleeper than the 338RETS has.

4. DW has hinted at wanting a dishwasher (sigh) and the permanent island will make that MUCH easier because all the plumbing needed is already within close proximity.

5. With the TV on the side instead of the back, the recliners/theater seating are directly across from the TV instead of off to the side.

6. For 2017 and the larger refrigerator options now available, you retain the large pantry with the larger refrigerator. In the 338RETS, you lose the large pantry with the larger refrigerators.

Pros of the 338RETS over the 330RSTS

1. With the rolling island, it allows you to configure the kitchen/work space in different ways that might be more convenient for you than having a fixed island.

2. Being able to move the island completely out of the way (into the hall/bedroom for instance) gives you a VERY large, open living area. I can envision setting up a banquet table and having the whole family over for Thanksgiving! Or even better, on the rainy days, get a rousing game of floor hockey going with the kids!

3. Being able to move the island around "should" make it easier to navigate within the entire trailer with the slides closed during storage, inclement weather, or when "walmart" camping.

4. Having the Ledgestone fireplace option would allow for an even larger TV to be mounted.

5. Simply MUST have an "appliance garage".

Well we have the 2015 338 and love it. We opted not to get the island and haven't missed it. The tv is fine to view from the seating and when my wife and I are in there ... typically at night or when raining we just tilt the tv towards recliners and can see it fine. When we have more people than the sofa sleeper can handle we put a queen air mattress on kitchen floor and there is room to get to the pantry around it for coffee in the morning. I say each person has to make descisions based on whats important to them and we did based on our past wants with our old travel trailer. Our grill mounts on rear bumper and came with it. I didn't order it because I didn't think I would ever use it but I have found it is nice for making breakfast outside and baking potatoes for dinner.

I did not get the outdoor grill option. I have two grills, as it is. I do have the quick connect gas grill outlet conveniently placed at the rear so one could mount a grill. We use wood and charcoal here in the South.

I broke my foot 4 weeks ago. The fixed island made getting around the kitchen safely a big plus.

I had two guests sleep on the tri fold sofa and one was a man over 6 feet. Neither felt uncomfortable although the comment was made that a mattress pad would be nice.

Did you check with your dealer to see if it could be ordered as an add on from Jayco? I can't imagine the mount itself would be welded on or anything but rather a bolt on to the bumper.

Another though is if your ordering a 2017 model, they now come with a 2" receiver on the back end of the trailer that might offer yet another option for an aftermarket grill mount instead of a bumper mount.

I have a 2015 338 without the rolling island and I have the ledgestone fireplace. I love how open the living room / kitchen area is. I have zero problems viewing my TV from any of the seats, plus I like that I can put a much bigger TV if I choose too. At first I was a little concerned I would not have enough room in the kitchen area as far as counter space and storage, but once I got all my stuff in there I realized I had more than enough room for storage. Also with the 338 you can have opposing sleeper sofas allowing you to sleep more people. Ultimately it will come down to which is most appealing to you and fits your needs the best. Best of luck
