Electric awning

how do you "pitch" the electric awning? I see a black knob, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

TrieD that, didn't work. Will try again. Is the silver bar supposed to slide in? Mine won't. First use of trailer.

I pitched mine 1 click on the door end and 3 clicks on the other.

The instructions for ours says only change the pitch while closed. It also says no more than three clicks between the two ends.

Note: we have no black know on ours.

Not sure, but I just grab one end or the other and pull down to where I want it and reach the black knob and tighten it, and it stays where I pulled it to.

also, make sure it is out all the way before trying this, and make sure the black knobs are loose when going out.

I've had 2 trailers with 2 different awning mechanisms. I'll bet there are even more. Pics would help along with model and year.

Best to lube those bars. Alum will stick and be hard to slide. Diff awnings have a strange ways to work. Mine has a series of 6 holes on the side of bar that is the lowest attached to rv. There is a spring loaded alum button that fills the hole, and keeps the bar in place. Push in on the button, and pull bar the direction you need. This allows the bar to slide and the button will pop into next hole.

Also, don't forget to loosen those black knobs before you retract the awning (don't retract a tilted awning). I did this last weekend, and while it didn't break anything, I think it could have very easily bent something out of place, and it made quite a ruckus.

I just dealt with this! Maiden voyage, pouring rain. Looking to slide the bracket down the TT, but its mounted. The rain was coming off the awning in a torrent and flowing thru our mat! Found the answer in my jayco library. Awning had its own manual. Nothing in my owners manual. DW and I were flipping through that library while the kids gave updates on the flood. Works easy. Tighten door side black knob, loosen other side black knob, pull down on this side and then tighten knob. BOOM! Lots of info info in there.

I wish mine had a pitch option. 08 29BHS, no adjustments on it at all.

Good instruction and advice on the awning, especially on not retracting with the knobs locked. Also, make sure the tie-down is removed as well. Forgot last week and had a scary moment until I realized what was holding the one side down. One thing I found after the awning had been pitched was that the black knob was hard to release. Ended up cutting the top of my thumb after it finally gave way. I am going to make a tool out of wood that fits over the black knob to give more leverage to release the knob. Tired of ripping open my hand.
