Electric Awning Shock

Hello all -

I need to replace one of the shocks on our electric awning. Has anyone done this? What are the tricks? There's no way I'm going to compress the shock to get it in place. Thanks in advance.

Sometimes, compressed shocks are held compressed by bands. You can use several large zip ties.

If you know the target length, you can pre set it to make it easy to work with.

Connect one end.

Just be ready with the second pin/ bolt when you cut the strap.

It's probably easier to change the shock when the awning is out and the shock is in the most extended position. You might check Utube and see if there is a video about that.
