Electric hitch jack

Our hitch will go down but not up. Has worked fine up until now. Any suggestions?

I would pull the motor cover on the jack and check the wiring to the switch, If it goes down then it must be getting power and the motor runs so its a loose wire or bad switch.

The switch that raised the roof on our popup started to get flaky (it works the same as the hitch switch), and I always had to wiggle it a bit it to get it to raise, but lowering was fine. Last fall when we were trying to sell it, of course the day that the prospective buyers were driving out from Denver, the switch failed completely when I tied to set it up.

I called the buyers and told them about it so they wouldn't make the 2 hour drive, then headed into a local hardware store that carries all sorts of stuff you'll never find at Home Depot or even at a good Ace. I needed a Mo-on off Mo-on with 6 leads, and he found one for me. I installed it, and to my surprise, it worked, but then we never made the sale after all. The popup now sits next to our shed waiting for the spring buying season.

Anyway, it must have been a pretty easy fix, cause I'm about as handy as 3 left thumbs.

If you're on shore power it's probably a bad switch or something else in the interior as posted above. If you're trying to raise it on battery power, check the battery voltage. When my last battery was going out, the jack would lower but not raise. Just a thought.

I had the same problem and it turned out to just need lubrication down inside...

So, did you determine the problem?

Problem solved!

Took the switch apart and there was trash inside interfering with the contacts. Cleaned it out and it works great!

Great to hear it was something simple. I have a Barker jack and they suggest once a year to remove the cover and check the gears and drive pin for proper lubrication, this will help to get many years of service out of it. You may want to look at your jack manual for similar maintenance.
