Equalizer hitch pin gouges

I am curious to see if this pin came like this by design or if it is somehow getting gouges in it from my hitch.I hadn't noticed it til the other day when I was painting my hitch head and bars for the upcoming season.I have never seen a pin look like this but figured id ask since I never looked at it before.if it is a gouge im not sure what I causing it other than maybe I need to adjust brake controller more so trailer isn't pushing into hitch when I stop.I did notice a few times when I stop you hear a little clunk from the hitch, but they also don't fit into the receiver very well either.Heres 2 pics of pin.

I would say it is from when the factory bent the pin to make it at a 90 . On my equalizer hitch mine are square pins a but has a similar mark from when the factory bent them.

That's normal and does not indicate any wear and tear, rather looks like a factory pinch in the bending and treating process

If you want to make sure that you don't have a problem then put the pin in and get a small hose clamp and put it on the side where the 45 degree angle is. After the hose clamp is installed the pin will not move. Did this to mine and where the 45 degree angle is will also stop the angle eating away at the receiver hole.

I have had a hitch pin wear. Did the same thing as Parcany in a different way. Even though it was minimal, I took several pins we use and tack welded a washer to the pin. I have had that portion you show wear away at the hitch receiver itself. The washer solved all of that.
