Extra Bed in TT

Hi guys,

I was debating between a X17A/Z and the 184RB. Wound up going with the 184RB as it's all confined inside of hard walls (we have dogs) and were only really thinking of ourselves for camping (myself, wife + 2 dogs) However, since our first trip we have had friends to ask go camping with.

The dinette folds flat, but really isn't for a full sized adult. Was wondering if anyone has done any type of mods (prefer non-permanent/easily move-able) that include extending the bed. Was debating either to have a cot-style thing next to the existing fold flat dinette, or something that extends completely over top of it, which we could place an air mattress.

As for weight, in this instance we would be using an F250 to pull not our normal Chevy Equinox TV, so the extra wood would stay in the TV. Basically the color Red shows what we want to do for at night.

Any thoughts? Anyone tried this before?

More Bed

I hope this helps and is what you were looking for. On an older trailer I gutted, I created a "queen" sized bed by using plywood panels and "swinging T" braces underneath. The dimension are on you for where to store the wood if you keep it whole but I cut mine in half and ran it on each bench and met in middle with "T" braces underneath. I made my T's so that the would swing and lay flat for space saving but it is not necessary. If you make your dimensions correct, you should be able to store the pieces of wood on your dinette. This would negate the dinette but would be made space conscious into a single bed when need out of way. Good luck.

Thanks cdavis. While i have another trip planned for Thanksgiving weekend, I think i am putting modifications on hold for the season as no plans for extra campers this year. If i ever do something, I will make sure to take pics and some instructions incase anyone else has an issue.

As for losing the dining table as storage, we used our kitchen table for the first time over the weekend as breakfast was a bit chilly @ 40 degree's outside :-) i'm sure i can come up with some ingenious way.
