Mine would easily accelerate even uphill and does not to strain at all re towing. The issue, as noted here several times, was load capacity. I, like many, only paid serious attention to the towing capacity when I purchased the first truck. I soon discovered I was at my max on load capacity with an empty trailer and the front end, even though balanced per the WD hitch specs, would float on the road. Not safe and scary to drive. I ended up moving to the 2016 F150 Platinum which gave me 600lb more load capacity and got the max tow package. Much better. Question of hauling with a 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton is one of those perpetual debates it seems. I learned that the Ford dealership experts have no clue and will sell you whatever you want and tell you it will work. Several I talked to did not even know where to find the door tag for load and tire specs. The Ford spec sheets are hard to follow and can vary a lot from your specific truck specs. I considered the F250 but it was a beast for everyday driving, would not fit in my garage and was too hard for my wife to get in and out of.

Don't ever talk to salesmen about towing specs and so forth. They haven't a clue. Your best bet is to talk to service or the parts dept. We have a more in depth knowledge and see it every day. I answer tow questions just about every day. I've heard and seen just about everything. And if they don't know the answers, I suggest you change the dealership your dealing with. We are constantly updated and required to take tests on the subjects to renew our Master credentials per FoMoCo. And this is also true with the other big manufacturers.
