finally replacing tow max tires with maxxis

well, i finally did it. going on a longer trip next year and did not want to take a chance on the 3 year old tow max tires on my eagle. discount tire has 160 dollars off a set of 4( if you use discount tire credit card) so total price shipped to my door is 372 dollars. one less thing to worry about while travelling.
now I just have to get the trailer back from having the front cap painted and can get the new tires mounted and balanced and will be good to go for next year. just made memorial day reservations today!

Smart move! I did the same thing last summer. Sure was nice being on vacation and not worrying about tire failures. Enjoy your trip!

Won't be far behind you. Hope to have ours swapped out by March at least. My Rainiers are only a year old with 6k miles, but I still want a little more peace of mind.

We recently did the same just before our trip to the west coast. We also bought ours at Discount tire. It was piece of mind during the drive.

For added peace of mind I would go up a load range as well if possible.

I switched to Maxxis tires, and moved up from load range C to load range D. Pulled the TT 1600 miles a couple months ago and they still look great, and the confidence factor can't be beat. I got the Discount tire online deal too. 5 tires for $400 total, plus balancing cost. The local dealer didn't charge for mounting the tires, since I pulled the wheels off and brought in.

I need to do this if we don't upgrade campers this coming season. Two seasons on the stock tow max tires so far. Two separate trips from MD to FL and MD to SC. Plus many trips to VA,PA and NC. Usually run 62-70mph and keep them at 49psi. From reading on here I'm probably pushing my luck so if we don't upgrade campers, I'll be upgrading tires...

I've been thinking about doing the same thing - getting rid of my one year old Rainier tires and upgrading to the Maxxis with a higher load range. We've put about 7,800 miles on them this year and I haven't had any problems at all, I just want more peace of mind.
I also installed a TPMS system on the tires, and that really takes the guess work out of knowing what's going on back there. If you're interested, I can highly recommend the TST 507RV model. I did have to install their repeater because of the length of my rig - it works perfectly now.
Happy travels!

That's exactly what I did recently; went from LR D to LR E. Had one of the Tow Max tires have tread separation, and luckily caught it before any damage was done. Replaced all 4 with Maxxis, and now I'm looking forward to traveling with some peace of mind. I haven't had a chance to get out on a real trip yet, but having to tow it around while taking care of some other chores, I'm already happy with my decision.
