First long trip..Port Aransas, Tx

Left this am.
Went by largest convince store in America.

Averaged pretty good MPG running 78mph.

From Port Aransas Tx to the south most tip you are allowed to drive on the beach. Several cities allow golf carts in town as well.

Gone there several times. Don't let the ferry scare you, they really know how to fit a TT on the ferry. We have also gone thru Corpus Christi taking South Padre Island Drive. Lots of traffic but a good well marked road. While in Port A. we like to stay in Pioneer RV Resort. Has a good pool for the kids and easy beach access. Clean, well maintained and have a really good breakfast in the rec hall. Have fun and have a safe trip.

Port A is a nice place. We stayed at "On the Beach" a couple of years ago. I was stressed about the ferry but like Les says it was a non-event.

Where are you staying?

Port A is one of our absolute favorite RV destinations! Probably half of our trips have been there. We love the beach, we have a handful of our favorite restaurants (Port A Pizzeria is on my list next time! YUM) and we love hanging out on the beach!

Our favorite park is Gulf Waters RV Resort. It's way down the beach, so the crowds are a little thinner, and it's a beautiful park with beautiful sites, and they have a new boardwalk for beach access that accommodates golf carts.

People not from Texas have tough time understanding Buccees

UGH! So jealous! I think we might have to suck it up and take the new baby down there ASAP after he gets here!

We've been coming since 1966. Started in a tent on the beach. Then popup at on the beach RV park. Added 5k ac in the tonge end of the popup in 1971. Was no use during day. We would lay on floor for afternoon nap with kids. Worked ok at night.
Have stayed at every motel in the early days for a quick fishing trip. They are now dumps.
In the 60's-thru the 80's trips were measured by how many beers it to took to get there. Port A was a two six pack trip from Austin....for each person drinking. Boy...have times changed. We were lucky to have survived those days. We now spend about 30 days a year here at various times.

We're staying at pioneer this trip. Use gulf waters also. Now that they've completed their golf cart bridge to beach much more.

Umm, you're not helping with the whole jealous thing! LOL!

That looks absolutely terrific! No seaweed or anything!

I'm sure you probably know, but you're in for some pretty significant storms tonight, cold front will set up a beautiful rest of the weekend for you guys! Might be a little chilly swimming early in the morning, but I bet it'll be just wonderful in the late afternoon and evening!

Supper at Scuttlebutts...less than $20.00 plus $3 for wine and $3.50 for margarita.
Happy hour prices.

WOW! 78 MPH? You're much braver than I am. Sure hope you don't have a tire blow out at that speed.

I upgraded from factory 15 inch D rated tires to 16 inch E rated increasing my load capticity by 5000 pounds. Running at full 80 PSI. No problems as tires never get hot. Only barely warm like the truck tires. It's running at speed with right at or over max load that causes problems.

How was the storm last night? We got a bunch of thunder and some lightning, but not nearly the rain they were predicting. There were a few hail storms in Waco...

Do they allow UTVs instead of golf carts? And I've heard stories about mosquitos in TX. How about that?

No UTV or ATV..golf carts only.....unless registered and tagged like a car. Golf carts have to pay a city registration/tag fee. The beach is a public road. Most states stopped issuing titles that can be tagged. There was a polaris ranger on the beach yesterday. Was registered in Pennsylvania. They thought they had it made and was showing off. Cops stoped them....They received a ticket for operating a registered motor vehicle with.....NON DOT approved tires and had to load it up. They had the stock off road use only tires.

The mosquitoes are not a real problem. But like everything in Texas...bigger...

Thanks, I'd hate to trade our Rhino for a golf cart. And it is licensed in AZ for raod use and has DOT shoes. We're thinking about switching winter HQs to somewhere new.

Speed limit on beach 15 mph, carts run around 20. Cop don't bother carts.
I have rzr and ranger at home. Cart great for beach.
My wife and I went to south padre in January. We drove 33 miles each way, in the cart, north to the land cut. Whole day trip. Used less than 3 gallons gas.

You can start at the national park in Corpus Christi and drive south to the land cut...about 80 miles one way. Your licensed rhino would be great for that and legal everywhere.
