Question first questions... bathroom, scratches, irregularities.

So we've been able to poke around the new trailer the last two nights and there's a few things I'm concerned about. Im just wondering if I'm being overly sensitive, or if I have valid concerns.

The first question is about the skylight over the bathtub. I didn't realize how flimsy it is but it doesn't feel any thicker than the plastic on a 2L bottle of cola. Do these things hold up well?

My second concern was this irregularity in the wall seam in the bathroom? Do these happen often and is QC ok with this?

Thirdly, there is a deep scratch in my kitchen cabinets. It's only about the size of a dime but it's not just on the surface. Would you be ok with this?

There's a diode out on the light on the power jack so that was a warranty issue before I even drove off.

Am I being nit picky?

Your not being to picky, it's your money. The thin layer on the skylight is the inner layer. There should be a thicker outer layer.

The scratch and poor seam, I would ask the dealer to fix it. Even if they will only cover part of the costs I would get it fixed, otherwise you'll always notice it.

I would have them look at the scratch I had a cabinet door that had a gap on one side of the stile and they said they would get me a new one ... did you try to push the seam tape down .. I check ours from time to time and push it up if it gets a pocket like that ... basically it is just tape that matches the walls or ceiling where the seams are.. if there is something protruding under it that's another story

That brings up another thing that we noticed. When you close the top drawer in the kitchen, it taps the drain of the sink and you can see it move the drain a little. It's not drastic but enough to notice the bump

It kind of feels like there is a wood shard under it. Sort of like the spikey pieces that are on the sides of a rough cut.

The door, due to the minimal grain and dark finish is difficult to repair, but it can be done. I would just replace the door, far cheaper and easier for everyone. Having owned a cabinet shop for almost 30 before selling it, it's the way to go. To touch that up your probably looking at most of an hour with someone that is good with furniture repair, doubt a dealer would have that knowledge

As far as the sky light, yes being acrylic they can be fairly thin, but, that would be a warranty issue down the road. Typically they will fail sooner rather than later. Another issue is heat loss or gain from the skylight. I know in the living area they are strating to put an shade on it. In the bath we used a piece of the reflective bubble used for windows in cars. Cut to fit and we wedge it in place when not using the shower.

As far as the irregularity in the shower wall, i would have to see it to see what it is. It may or may not be an issue, hopefully your dealer can handle that issue.

Good luck, keep us informed.

I guess I should have been more specific. The scratch on the cabinetry is actually on the frame close to the ceiling. It's not on a door.

Yes that can be repaired and is actually easier. I have filled holes drilled in doors and even up close you would never see it, just takes the correct materials and some level of skill. I'm sure in your area there is a furniture repair person that your dealer could hire to complete this repair. They may even have someone on board, depending on the size of the dealership.

Good luck

I would have them fix the seam and the cabinet, this is your trailer, unless this is a used trailer then you get it the way it is.

If you just bought a new trailer you should have all those thing taken care of with the warranty. I think you need to be picky. If your not you might regret it.

I agree with the guys already posting. My new trailer had a seam like yours and a cabinet door that wouldn't close just right. Had the dealer fix these things before I took possession of it.

I know on the seam there shouldn't be anything protruding under it ... that would intale a new strip of tape to replace the tape on there and they would have to remove the protruding object.... on the wood see if they can fix it to your satisfaction and if not have them order you a new one ... on the cabinet drawer hitting the drain pipe I would have them fix that too because eventually that could cause drain to leak
