First time owner needs help tracking down a leak

Hi, I'm new here but have been doing some reading for a little bit now. Wife and I just bought our first Jayco and so far we are enjoying it. It's a 2010 Jay Flight 22FB and have been out in it twice. First time was a week long in NC and second a little camp out around home.

When we went out on our first time it rained a ton. Few days later I noticed that the camper was holding water in the rear between the floor and the plastic tarp/thermal barrier on the right and left side. Went though all the plumbing and found no leaks. Hopped up on the roof and all seams have good caulking from what I can tell. Camper was level and it didn't appear to be holding any water on the roof. I ending up piercing the tarp/thermal barrier to drain the water but know that it is still damp in there.

I would like stop the water intrusion before it causes problems. Does anyone have any ideas where to look or solutions? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to hear you checked the roof first. But did you check the exterior lights? Often they are over looked. Sometimes you can look at the covers and tell if they have held water, some of the earlier taillights were notorious for holding water and then it would overflow down the hole for the wires. I do not recall what years had this issue. I would recommend pulling the covers and then remove each mounting screw and look to see if they have any corrosion on them (aka rust). If they do re seal those lights. If you main taillight covers do not have a drain in the bottom of them drill a small (1/8”) hole, as a drain. You can also take a little bit of a flexible caulk and place over the top of the joint where the cover meets the base. But use very little as you will need to remove the covers periodically for maintenance reasons.

Did you check the holding tanks for leaks? From your descriptions it sounds like it is under the trailer? Maybe hook up a city water connection and see if you have a drip after filling the grey tanks or in an lower hose connection. If not then you might need to do a hose test on the other points where the walls are sealed for further evaluation. The sealed bottoms can be tough to get off, but it might be the best course of action to really see where that water is coming from.

Thanks for the feedback. After getting on the roof again it looks like the caulking might not be as good as I thought. I'm getting some sealant this weekend and going to seal it up better. I will also check the holding tanks for leaks and do a outside hose test to look for leaks.
