First trip! New guy :)

Hi everyone! We just made our maiden voyage -2 hrs away! Lol
Went great, no problems, other than I got the trailer all set up, unhooked, unpacked, set up camp....
BUT..... I didn't level the trailer properly side to side, is there a way I can level with out having to hook up????

The axles should bear the weight so you'll need to pull or back the low wheels onto leveling blocks or boards. Your stabilizer jacks are for shoring up the TT....not leveling.

Happy Camping!

Is there a way I can jack up the trailer instead of hooking up and back onto blocks?

Disclaimer...I've never attempted this....and not recommending it since I don't know much of anything about your TT, suspension, chocking, jacks, leveling material or site topography. But if I did...

One could jack up the axles (assuming there are 2) one at a time and block the tire as they went. The jack needs to lift the leaf spring under the axle...the jack shouldn't lift the axle itself.

This could get tricky depending on how the site is level front to back...the TT may want to "walk" forward or backward.....especially if the TT is not hooked up to the TV.

The fulcrum between the axles may push the wheels around as one jacks up one axle at a time....this could move the tire off the first block as they attempt to raise / block the second wheel.

I wouldn't be comfortable trying to raise any more than an inch or two....what ever blocking is used...assume you need to drive off that blocking when you break camp

This would be a simple process for a single axle TT.....

Consider this random tips....not advice

I have always been leery of jacking a trailer w/o it being attached to my tv. Not that it can't be done, in my old age, I lean toward not taking chances on it shifting or rolling.

It would not take anything but moving the low side up on a block. Easy to do before unhooking if you have a accurate level.

This is one method I have seen that can be done. This way you do not need to back or pull up on blocks. You do not need to hook up again.

You forgot the side by side leveling? On your first outing? How could you? Oh, yeah. Easy. I'm into our sixth year and I still forget that at least half the time.

Seriously, particularly since you are new at this, I'd strongly advise you hook up to your TV. There are so many bad things that can't happen when anchored to the TV and are doing it correctly. And on the bright side, you'll gain experience hooking up and not taking risks.

I did exactly what you did on our first trip, forgot side to side leveling. Got out my bottle jack and fixed it. It took so long retract stab jacks and use a bottle jack yo lift the low slide I would have been better to just hitch back up and drive it up on the blocks.

Anytime I try to take a short cut, it ends up being a long drawn out process or I end up breaking something. Might as well do it right and hitch back up.

I think we've all done that. No question I would hook back up. Too many scary things can happen otherwise. Just not worth the risk.

I would say most of us have done the exact same thing, or had a tree or pedestal in the way when we started to put slides out. Better to be safe than sorry. Steps one and two for me before unhooking are to level side to side and check all clearances and connections for utilities and slide outs. Once you repeat these steps about 25 times, you will get it down pat. I'm up to about 14 now so hopefully, I will get it down before too long! LOL
