Fresh water filling problems

We recently purchased a used 2008 jayco jay flight G2 25 RKS. While trying to fill the fresh water tank, water was pouring out of the overflow lines underneath the trailer. My husband is pretty sure that the tank wasn't full as he was only filling for a very short time and the gauge was still reading empty. Any suggestions?

Are you sure they are the 'overflow' drains and not the low point drain lines? Just checking ...

Welcome to the forum.

If the water IS from the overflow lines, the next step might be verifying how much water really is in the tanks. Most tank gauges in RVs aren't always accurate.

also check to see if the drain was closed on the Fresh water tank If it was open then water would come out almost as fast as its going in

Nope - this is the thread that you want to read through.
Just go to the last 3 pages, which contain the solution you are looking for. This is a VERY common problem with Jayco travel trailers. The fix is pretty easy. This problem comes up regularly in the forum, as new owners fill their FW tank and wonder what is going on. I had the same problem and found the solution at the link below.
