Fresh water tank sensor

My fresh water tank sensor stopped working properly. It now always reads full. I know black and gray never read right but this is the first I have heard of this for fresh water. I am thinking about adding 8-10 gallons of white vinegar to the tank and then fill with water and see if that helps cut the probable lime and scale on the tank walls.. Any other ideas on this? I boondock 100% of the time so an accurate fresh water gauge is necessary.

Seann, just thinking, have seen the commericals about stuff called CLR- seems that stuff works good. Just don't know how much of a pain it would be getting it all out of the tank and what if any damage it would do to the sensor.

Put a bag of ice and 5 gallons of water next time you head out . The ice will clean off the sensors

Sean, how about 5 to 8 gal of water and two or three gal of vinegar then take it for a little ride so it will slosh a lot?

Those factory gauges aren't accurate anyway. Is 3 of 4 dots 51% or 74%? Install some SeeLevel gauges, and be done with it.

I would look for a short in the wire going to the sensors. Possibly it has come loose and is touching the frame or has become pinched by something causing it to be grounded. Since this is the fresh water tank this does not sound like a sensor problem.

SeeLevel system? You betcha! They ain't cheap but they are accurate. I installed them in my camper.

I had a similar problem and it was a bad (broken connection) ground wire.
