Fresh water tank vs. City water connection

Got a question. I own a jayco 2017 284bhsw. I looked in the owners manual but didn't find any real answer. Is there a valve that you can turn to use one source instead of the other? We have the TT on city water connection and gave run over 100 falls thru it. Water is grey. Sink in bathroom cleared up. .But sink in kitchen grey. What am I missing? We also have a filter installed inline to help.

On 28BHBE there is no valve to close to run from city water. Make sure that your water pump is not turn on when on city hookup.

So..... Even though there is a inlet on different sides of the trailer one for city and one for fresh, they use the same tank?

City water don't go into the tank. Fresh water go into tank and water pump bring it to faucet.

the only way that you use the tank is if you fill it and turn on your water pump. If you hook up to the city water connection don't turn on the water pump. You should have better pressure and more regulated flow with the city water connection.

Fresh water tank vs. City water connection

When using city water, the water from city water connection moves directly to your pipes via line pressure. No tank involved. The fresh water tank is for use when you want to take water with you somewhere. The tank is your water supply and the pump moves it from the tank to your pipes to the various faucets etc.

As to the discolored water, just let it run. Never seen a gray color, but depending on what's in the pipes, anything is possible.

You can pick up a disposable water filter that you install where your city water connection is. These are very inexpensive and something I believe are well worth the expense.

Here's a diagram that explains it pretty simply:

If the filter you have hooked up is a charcoal (like the blue Camco filters) style, and you didn't flush it out before installing it, the gray stuff is likely charcoal dust. Try running the water more, and see if it clears up. It may take a while. I speak from experience on this scenario.
