Last summer we were leaving Amarillo, TX when I looked in the mirror and saw smoke coming from what looked like the back of our trailer. I pulled over and found the left rear bearing smoking
on our old (now sold and replaced by 212QBW) Fleetwood Pioneer. The tire was barely on the axle. (All 4 bearings had been repacked about 6 months earlier when I bought 4 new GY tires).
Called Good Sams and was told it would be at least an hour to get someone out to us.
The mechanic coming out called to let us know he would be out as soon as he finished another repair. And the rep at Good Sams personally called every half hour to check on us. The mechanic was there in about 90 minutes after he first called, jacked up the trailer (and the wheel fell off), checked the axle and cut off the inner race off the axle.
We needed a new drum and bearing set. He had to go back into town to pick one up, brought it back, along with a 6 pack of ice cold Cokes and some Milk Bones for the two kids (4 legs, waggy tails), spent the next hour cleaning up the axle end and threads. Got us back on the road. Total time about 6 hours. He also led us back to his shop to add grease to the other 3 wheels (no charge) to make sure there wasn't any more problems and refused to accept any tip.
We bought our 2016 Jayco shortly after returning home. Without Good Sams, we would have been up a desert creek without water or a paddle. While it pretty much killed any change of us getting as far as we planned, the road service did get us up and back on the road. Much better support than AAA or several other road services I've had in over 50 years of driving.
