Greasing Bearings

I have a Jayco Feather light 25. How often do the bearing need to be greased?

We do it yearly. We put about 8,000 miles a year on.
It's so easy on our Dexter axles.

.

For my many boat, utility and RV/TT trailers, I disassemble each entire hub, do full brake inspection / cleaning and re-grease its wheel bearings every year. In the spring - after April showers rainy season. To reduce the mess, I use Dollar store surgical/medical gloves.

For details, surf: http://www.united-trailers.com/Uploa...s/Manual_6.pdf

Note: See Page 69 for full inspection checklist - based on miles traveled as well.

If wondering, I replace rear seal every other year (unless its leaking within 1 year).

Just had them done cost about $225 big Bucks, unfortunately I cannot do it myself in my drive It is really rather simple But my drive is too much on a slant to jack a trailer up P.S. Isn’t it funny how car manufactures can make wheel bearings that last over 100,000 thousand mile and trailer manufactures can’t make them last more than 4,000 miles without being serviced just a thought

My driveway is on a slant as well.

For me, I simply tow my TT to a flat parking lot (or nearest dead end flat street) and do the work. Sunday has less traffic on the flat parking lots.

Hope this helps..

I've only done mine once in the last 9 seasons. But then again we don't put 1,000 miles a year on ours.
Living in da U.P. of MI, we probably have a few dozen places we can go within 2 hours of the house.

I did find a very useful tool for greasing bearings. The first time I saw one, I used it on the main landing gear wheel bearings on a Cessna.
I liked it so much I bought one for my home tool box.

I have a 2003 Jayco Qwest 8U and the owners manual says every 12k miles. Did them the other day because on our final trip last year one wheel started slinging grease. Looked like they were over packed by just blobbing grease in/on. Took them to my local gas station and used the old fashioned grease press and pack machine. Too much grease will cause overheating, according to the manual.

We tow about 2500 miles a year so our trailer is on the 4 or 5 year program.
