Hitch for 26BH
Not really happy with the no-sway control hitch my dealer basically through in with my 2015 BH so am looking at alternatives. Leaning towards Equalizer or Reese Dual Cam (will somewhat depend on what is available at the auto parts store I've had good service from before).
Should I be going with 1000 lb bars? Or a bit higher? There are times when we'd like to tow with full water to closer campground when there is a boil water advisory, or early/late in season when there is no water.

13% tongue weight of a 7500 pound GVW is 975 pounds.
1000 pound bars is CLOSE. What if you ever decide to upgrade to a larger trailer?

I'm ok buying a new hitch with a new trailer. I'd rather have a well matched setup than worry about the next trailer.

Also remember to include the weight of the hitch weight and anything in your truck bed behind the rear axle in your sizing calculation.

Hitch for 26BH
On my 264 I went with the 1000lbs bars. I don't know what the weight of your trailer is but mine is about 4800lbs empty. You can always buy bars that are rated for more if you get a bigger camper later and not have to buy a whole new hitch. Well that's the case with blue Ox which is what i use.

I have the Reese dual cam with my 26BH and I am very happy with the performance. I am not sure of which bars I have, but I could check them tomorrow when I go pick it up from storage (I would guess they are stamped or something).

I used the 1000/10000 Equal-i-zer bar set up on our last 26BH and once I hit the CAT scale and dialed it in it was wonderful. The initial dealer set up was horrible so take some time and do it right yourself.

Turns out I have 800# bars - since I'm only at about 6000# (550# tongue weight), they are fine. They work well, and I can't see needing the 1000# bars...

I also have the 10K bars for my 26BH. I have the Fastway E2 hitch (generic 2 point Equalizer) and the set up has worked well for me for the past two years on two different tow vehicles.

I have 750# bars on my 26bh and it is adequate but if I were starting over I would go with the 1000# bars.

Just to followup, went to another dealer (not my Jayco dealer) who sold Equal-i-zer and Blue Ox. I was pretty set on the Equal-i-zer walking into the shop, and despite the salesmans efforts to steer me to the Blue Ox (which cost $150 more) I walked out with the Equal-i-zer with 1000 lb bars.
With a little help of my neighbours auto-shop I got it installed and setup myself. First tow, with no water and quite a bit of wind was much better. On our way back I towed with 3/4 fresh water tank and it towed even better.
Which has me thinking - we travel light. We basically added bedding and our car camping gear and some stuff in the fridge. I don't think it could add more tongue weight with what we got in there. Did some fresh water increase the tongue wait, perhaps giving me a better ratio?
Maybe only the scales will tell, but much happier with this hitch!
