How long till the Heat smell dissipates?

Our first winter in NC with a WhiteHawk 28DSBH. I've run the heat a few times, and expected some odd smells at first, but after running it about a dozen times, it still smells of burning plastic. Is that normal? If so, does it ever go away?

I did not have my dealer run the heater during my PDI. With that said, I never had one bad smell and we used the heater the whole weekend of our first trip.

I ran mine for about an hour during shakedown in the driveway, lots of stink at that time, but not much since then. But then, this is Texas, so we don't use the furnace much...

I would say after a dozen times, the smell should be pretty well blown out. How long do you run it at a stretch? Perhaps it needs to be run a bit longer at a time to burn everything off...

Just had ours running for the first time last week. It would set the smoke alarm off the first few times. I decided to let it run for a while without shutting it off. I left the doors open to help air it out. I suspect the odor will subside.

A dozen times and still getting a bad smell does not seem right. When our TT was new we ran the furnace for an hour with all the doors and windows open in order to burn off any coating that was on the heater. After that we left the doors and windows open for a couple more hours to air out the TT. After that we have never had a weird smell when using the furnace.
Perhaps you can access the furnace to ensure nothing "extra" was left in there during manufacturing?

Thanks All! I'll run it again this weekend for a longer period of time and see if I can get rid of this smell.

I did check the vents and all external access to make sure the baby didn't put anything in there.

When I got my 32bhds the smell was very bad and after many hours of use, would not go away.

I took the trailer back to the dealer and, under warranty, they removed the furnace to check things out, i.e. to see if there was plastic or something that should not be there around the housing.

Nothing was found and they put the furnace back in. A few more times using the furnace and the smell went away.

It did take a while though.

First burn on the new unit was 2-3 hours with windows/doors open and smell passed.

First burn after months of no use, has similar smell for ~15min, assume its buring off dust and what not.

The furnace in our 2013 334 smelled bad and set off smoke alarm for the first dozen times the heat went on. It's coming from the oil residue off duct work and whatever heat coil is made out of. Probably not the safest smell to have you and your family breathe but we learned our lesson, next new TT we will run the heat wide open with everything opened up before the TT leaves dealership. Being firefighter and know what toxins are in building materials, probably should have wrote Jayco a letter over it...

Your dealer should have ran it during PDI and had it ready.

Our dealer ran ours before we picked it up so we had no smell at all.

Our dealer did NOT run ours, but I knew that going in and just did it myself.
