How much discount off of MSRP

How much would you expect a dealer like Camping world to come off of MSRP on a 2016 Eagle 284 BHBE ??

30 % or 35 % ??? What is standard and what it good ??

30% is accepted as a good deal, but you will find it varies widely from dealer to dealer. Some will budge very little from MSRP and others will go anywhere form 10 to 40%. Another consideration is the MSRP number can be inflated by the dealer so be careful of that little game. How to get the best price link:

We've been at ~25% boy times we've purchased. As Crabman suggests, do your research beforehand in case the dealer tries to take you for a ride

We got about 28% off MSRP. it was our first camper and they are pretty close to us which is why I paid a few thousand more than I could have gotten through RV DIRECT which didn't include the cost/installation of the hitch. Plus I would have had to driven to Orlando for it.

I purchased my 2015 Eagle 284BHBE from Camping World last fall. After some negotiations and a quote from RVONE, I was able to get 33% off the MSRP.

Did you print out the quote from RvOne and bring it into negotiations?

We got a quote from RVDirect.com. Most local dealers didn't even come close to that price. Found a dealer about an hour and 30 minutes away (Keystone Mega RV Center) that gave a quote within about $600 of the RVDirect price.

We went in to put a deposit down and my wife mentioned that RVDirect was cheaper, they took another $200 off the price... AFTER we paid our deposit. We got it for about 36% off MSRP.

Camping World will likely NOT come that far off price. I would think 20-25% off MSRP is realistic for them.

Yes, I did print the quote. Camping World met the price right to the penny.

Are you guys including freight into your % off or leaving freight out of the equation because it varies so much around the country?

For those that got an emailed quote from RVOne, did you go back at them a couple times to come down more on the price or did they come in were you thought it should be right away?

I think having the comps of any competing dealer is huge, keep emotion out and just walk away when the negotiations take a turn. This served me very well. Wife was pissed when we walked out but I said "garantee they call within the hour"....sure enough. Accepted my lowball offer after they called the other dealer to verify I wasn't bluffing. We pick up our coach on friday!

Would you think that would work with out of state dealer's quotes?

I used a dealer in Texas as one of my comps, on top of the better price they were offering $1000 gas card and would pay for my flight out.

We ordered our 28BHBE 35% off MSRP, and they took off an additional $300 after I showed them a quote from RV Direct. They were not going to budge from that amount, but I was satisfied enough at that point.

We used RVDirect. MSRP on our 2015 38flsa with all of the options was 105K - I paid 60K. or 57% of MSRP.

It really is a game, keep playing and you will get a better deal.

The more options ordered, the higher the profit margin. Directly effects the amount a dealer can come off of MSRP.

I noticed this a few years ago while shopping for a new 5er. Particularly with Camping World.

First it varies based on model and options. RV Direct is a good benchmarking tool I have found. Anywhere north of 30% as mentioned is a good deal. Consider location of dealer, reputation and yes final delivery point. One thing I did negotiate out was dealer prep which RV direct does not charge, but some dealers add to pad profit.

Consider "out the door pricing". Also financing options that the dealer has access to if you are financing.

A good dealer is a huge asset IMHO and should be weighed in the equation.

I just bought a 2016 Jayco Whitehawk 25BHS and I negotiated 35% off MSRP. Ended up paying $24,999 plus TTL. Thought it was a pretty good deal and happy with the camper. I bought it from Richardson's RV in Temecula.
