How often do you lube slide out?

How often am I suppose to lube the slider rail? As you can see in the pic, it's just a single rail on a rather small slide-out.

IF I remember to do so, every time we go on a trip. I don't use a petroleum based lube, but a food grade 'dry' silicone spray made by CRC and easily found at Fastenal stores. $13 a can, but a good lube with no grease or residue to attract dirt and grime and I also use it on the slide seals and gaskets.

I have a can of the CAMCO "Slide Out Lube and Protectant". It does contain petroleum, but it's suppose to leave a non-greasy residue.

Copied from my 2012 JayFlight Owner Manual...

"Your slideout system has been designed to
require very little maintenance. To ensure a
long life of your slideout system, read,
understand and follow these simple
instructions. This system contains a pre-lubed
bearing that is lubricated when the room is
moved in and out. Do not spray oil or grease
on the rails while the room is extended."

I have never lubed the slide system.

Thanks for posting. Surprisingly, I found that exact same thing in my 2008 manual. Dang, I need to read the manual more often. I will stop spraying mine.

Ok guys and gals while we're on the subject of keeping things lubed do any of you spray the slideout weather stripping with silicone to keep it soft and flexible?

Yes I do, When the trailer goes in for the water line, I will get them to do it, I am just to short even with a Ladder and brush to get under the awning of the slide.
The sides I can handle.
I keep a can of spray in the trailer.

My Frist time out with the trailer on my own, last year May long weekend coming home

ohhh baby powder? is it cornstarch based?

Youtube videos don't lie, but how do you know they are correct?

The seals on our rigs are rubber. That means they could be any variety of 2 or 3 actual compounds, all sort-of requiring different things.

Take a look at this: http://303products.com/product-uses/rubber

303 Aerospace Protectant maybe the best engineered material for rubber seals.

I spray my seals 1-2 times a year with 303. Same process I've used for years and never had to replace a seal. Spray a lite coat on and wipe the excess off.

Where do you get your 303? I've looked at several retailers around here and haven't seen it. I could order it, but it'd be nice to just be able to pick it up while I'm out...
