How to clean mattress (bunk bed) cover?

Hi Guys,

My kids made a bit of mess and the mattress cover (bunk bed) is now filthy (there were some sweets, etc.). How to clean the cover - as far I as noticed, there is no zipper to take the cover off and to wash it. After almost one year, I would like to wash it, if possible. However, if this is not an option, I would appreciate other suggestions.

We have a hand held steam cleaner that my wife bought for the car upholstery. It has been used on the bunk mattresses twice. Once for an ice cream spill, and once did vomit.

We also use a handheld steam cleaner. Works well enough for us.

If they are the mattresses with the teddy bear on them, there should be a zipper on the backside. Ours have them anyway.
