We're looking forward to going East and downhill.. Not fighting 50 mph headwinds at 60 mph.

Probably not so much climbing between 6 and 10000 feet multiple times.

I don't think high altitude helps mileage nor the incredible dust on dirt roads ( and we have been on lots)

Currently in Holbrook AZ

Never have clocked MPG's towing. Bought the diesel because I knew it would always have better MPG's vs any gasser towing the same load and it always has power to spare... My favorite thing is that the engine never has to go over 2k rpms to pull...

Went from Maryland to Ohio last week - through the mountains on I-68 - and got 8.7 avg MPG... other times with less climbing, I have hit 10 MPG.

Last weekend, got about 10 with a nice little tail wind behind me. Fought the head and cross wind all the way home, got around 8.5.

Who'd have thought I'd be fighting a North wind in TX in June?! And it wasn't just a little breeze either!

I haven't checked while towing for probably a couple of years. I used to track every trip, but it consistently ran in the 10s, with occasional single tank fillls showing upper 9s and low 11s. It seems like we're either running against a headwind or a crosswind. Must be one of Murphy's Laws.

My non-towing driving is infrequent but pretty much the same, four and a half miles with 900' elevation change each way, 19 hwy each way and three or four miles in town. I checked the last tank because I was planning on changing the fuel filter with the upcoming oil change and I wanted to know if there was any change. Got 16.4 and am working on the new tank full. Not expecting much difference.
