Inexpensive ideas for a 2014 jayflight 26bh

just wanted to share a few things we did to our new 2014 Jayco 26bh. Nothing is permanent and it was all found at Walmart, Ikea and the Dollarama. Hope someone finds it helpful.

I used magazine/file holder to keep my zippy bags, foils etc in place. I also use one to hold the cutting boards and baking trays in the cupboard.

A 3M hook holds a shower caddy for a little extra storage in the shower, you can't really hang the caddy on the shower head securely. I just remove it when we are driving and put it in the tub.

image

A little hanging storage next to the toilet to hold extra TP, or deodorant etc while you shower. Since the vanity and med cabinet are outside the door it is nice to have a little extra spot inside to put things.

I found some indoor/outdoor pillows at Jysk for the sofa and they come in handy to grab and take outside to the hammock. Found some little pillows at Dollarama to put at the ends of the dinette under the valance.

Hung a power bar with the 3M picture hanging Velcro inside the storage area by the TV. The big plug for the TV kept falling out of the socket and this one seems to work better.

I hate the lights above the bed. I found this lamp for $5.99 at Ikea and it is completely plastic. I will just keep it in the wardrobe during travel. It is very cosy.

Found these Skubb storage bins at Ikea too. They work well in the wardrobe as they fold open to get past that narrow opening. They are just turned on the side for storage bins.

An indoor/outdoor 20x40 mat from Walmart fit perfectly for at the door and the sand sweeps right off. Plus it matches the colour scheme.

My hubby made this safety rail for the top bunk out of some PVC pipe. It works great.

Some hanging storage, also from Ikea, works great in the bunkhouse to hold books, a nightlight etc. it is also reachable from both beds.

Great ideas! I may steal the PVC pipe bed rail idea.

Curious, do the 2014s come with that shower head or did you add that yourself? My 2013 26bh came with a much cheaper looking white plastic one.

Thank you! No we added that. It's the Oxigenic shower head. We had the plastic white one too. We had the Oxigenic in the hybrid too and when we upgrade we moved it over and put the white one back. It works great and has wonderful pressure using less water.

Definitely going to steal the wardrobe idea and the hanging storage in the bunkhouse idea. Good work!

All great ideas that you had, especially the PVC safety rail for the upper bunk...I may just have to "borrow" that one.

Good job! As soon as my wife sees your ideas I'm sure she'll be heading out on a shopping trip.

I just noticed you pull using a Nissan Titan. We just bought an '08 with the tow setup (mirrors, etc.) to replace our '07 Tahoe that just didn't have the oomph I wanted. I have yet to pull with the Titan, but will this weekend. How do you like towing with yours?

Thanks for the ideas! I might steal the PVC bunk guard - little guy is about to graduate to the top bunk! All good stuff...

SoTexJeff we find the Titan pulls the 26bh well. We have an 09 with the tow pkg and it works great. This trailer has so much storage that we just need to carry the bikes and kayaks in the back of the truck now. Thanks for the comments everyone!

Are the walls of these bins strong enough to actually use as shelves for clothing?

[QUOTE=CountryKim;145700]Found these Skubb storage bins at Ikea too. They work well in the wardrobe as they fold open to get past that narrow opening. They are just turned on the side for storage bins.

Shmeek the bins are holding the clothes fine. They are buckling a bit on bigger trips where I pack more clothes. I do hope to replace them in the future with something more permanent, but for now they are economical solution and I will use them in the house in winter to store all the linens and towels from the trailer. Also the fact that they just fit side to side in the storage area helps a bit with making the sturdier.

I used 2 x 2 wood strips and cut a plastic window shutter from Lowes (width is perfect fit) If you position correctly, you can hid the wood strips before screwing in completely. You get to choose color! They are lite and durable enough to support large loads.
