Installed Island in 33RLDS, now I want to put a power outlet in it.

I installed an Island(36"x16") in my 2015 Jayco 33RLDS. It is a perfect fit. It is right across from the stove and fridge. Now I want to run some power to it, so my wife can have a plug at the island. Would like to know where in the trailer I could take the power from. What are the chances of drilling a hole through a heating duck or a water line. Basically, can it be done, and which way would be the best. How would it affect the slides when they are coming in, with the wire coming up through the floor.

I purchased a 36"x24" sink base from Home Depot. Then I cut it on the table saw to make it 36" x 16". I also purchased the veneer panels for the sides and back. Then I purchased a countertop that is 36"x24". I installed the counter top on the sink base. Then I purchased two bar stools. Now two people can eat at the island, if need be.

I would assume the island is mounted more to the middle of the TT? If so, I wouldn't think the slides would effect it. I would just make sure it (wiring) runs down the center of the rv as long as possible before having to head to the power source. I would also guess you'll have to splice into an existing circuit. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to confirm you can use the sockets normally after installing them. As far as amperage. MY main concern would probably be "drilling through the floor"...that just wigs me out. I installed an island in my home and had to drill through the floor to feed wiring through for the 4 gang socket. The flooring in my kitchen is 5" plank maple. I was a nervous wreck. But I measured about 65 times then went for it.

On my 33RLDS the stove and fridge is on the slide. And the opposing slides carpets almost touch when in. I would like to see pics as well..

BTW..we're contemplating an island as well..for counter space. But the DW wants one on lockable wheels. That way we can just wheel it into position..lock the wheels.. and be good. But we haven't pulled the trigger yet due to the extra weight.

Mine do to. There's a space about 12 inches between them when in.

Hi. We also have an island but ours is on wheels and it can be moved around. We are parked seasonally so I only close up the slides in the fall for the winter months. I'm not sure if your island is portable or permanent but keep in mind it will have to be moved in order to close the slides up. In terms of power you can come up from the underbelly with a 14-2 romex and then tie it in either at the Junction box behind the fireplace or fish it up to the breaker panel. Be sure to seal up the underbelly once done. I would also suggest installing a floor receptacle under the island for ease of disconnecting but be sure to put it in a place where the slides won't interfere once closed.

I would not drill a hole in my floor to add electrical to an island when there are options to use. We just use an extension cord when we needed electricity at the island. At seasons end we just move ours to the area of the washroom for storage. If I was pulling I would strap it to the bed area.

Ours runs length ways in the trailer. When you open the fridge door it misses the counter top by 1 1/2". We did not put it on wheels, as there is only the wife and I, and there is lots of room. My wife does lots of cooking and loves the extra countertop space. I installed it in a seasonal, so there is no movement. After reading the suggestions I may rethink running power to it. Will let you know what I decide. Pictures will follow.
